Do not take law into own hands

Citizens are advised not to take law into their own hand when problems happened in communities, such as trespassing.

Rules and by-laws within communities, Area Councils or municipalities exist to for guidance when dealing with problems or wrongdoing.

However, often when a family does something wrong, arguments can grow and lead to bigger disputes. This beahviour is becoming too common in communities. The police advise that people should not take law into their own hands when a problem happens. Instead, talk with the chief or approach the police to resolve issues peacefully.

The police in the north are continuing to make sure children reach their schools safely.

Engaging with communities

Meanwhile, the police has recorded many cases happening within homes across communities in Vanuatu. Many restraining orders are being obtained by police officers through the Magistrates' Court for enforcement, and may roundtable discussions are taking place at Police Stations between families.
